Help for the Hungry Soul: Eight Encouragements to Grow Your Appetite for God's Word by Kristen Wetherell My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews I would say that this book has really spoken to me through the Lord. Wetherell really brings these eight encouragements to try to speak not only to new believers but old believers in the faith as well. It helps give a different approach to reading the Word as seeing how the Lord speaks to us through the point of His Word

Review: At the End of the World: A True Story of Murder in the Arctic

At the End of the World: A True Story of Murder in the Arctic by Lawrence Millman My rating: 2 of 5 stars View all my reviews I was able to read this book in one sitting, and the main thing that comes to mind is the word "mind." This story is mainly written from the journal entries from the author, and then there are some chapters that are of research. But the whole book itself was a bit off-putting since I was expecting a bit more story and understanding of why this happened, but I was just given, "This happened, and that's it." Short and sweet and to the point, but with the murdered present, I really needed Long and to the point.

Review: The Bible in the Early Church

Image
The Bible in the Early Church by Justo L. González My rating: 5 of 5 stars Justo L. González's book gives what was written in the title "The Bible in the Early Church." He goes through the history of the Bible and how our early church fathers would have received and preached the world, along with translating and formatting it. The book in itself is very informational and would be a good asset for Pastors and laypeople to have when they are giving bible studies or even when someone has that question! View all my reviews

Review: A Boundless God: The Spirit according to the Old Testament

A Boundless God: The Spirit according to the Old Testament by Jack Levison My rating: 4 of 5 stars Jack Levison brings in great points relating to the Spirit's movement in the Old Testament. Levison takes the opportunity to tell fellow believers in Christ, as well as Jewish believers, that it is crucial to know the Spirit to be able to fully comprehend the Hebrew Bible. He points out how the Spirit of God was constantly more than just the wind or breath; it was a personal person of the Godhead that interacts with the creation of God. He does take some leaps in his study where he claims that the Angel of the Lord mentioned in the Hebrew bible is possibly closer to the person of the Spirit than the personhood of the Son, which theological claims have been made before. He also mentions that with Samson, he had the Spirit stirring within him in a "Graveyard" at Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol, which is mentioned in Judges 13. I haven...

Review: Are All Religions True?

Image
Are All Religions True? by Harold A. Netland My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book was written for the mind of an incoming or current undergraduate student. This question alone is what plagues many incoming Christmas visiting or staying at a secular campus where all religions abide. However, Dr. Netland gives a great perspective on the question of religious pluralism and how it relates to the nature of Christianity. It was a great short read that really opened my eyes to Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism, but the most glaring fact is the way he ends his writing that while we respect and acknowledge other faith believers as fellow image bearers, we must also remain faithful to Christ Jesus and urge others to faith solely in Christ.
