Review: The Alchemyst

The Alchemyst The Alchemyst by Michael Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From seeing all of the reviews based on this book I could see that many people did not like the main premise of the story. But I would have to contrast from all of their perspectives because in reality I truly did enjoy the book and the plot that it was giving off. I would have to say that in the beginning I was a bit confused of how the story plot was going but then the way that it starting to maneuver down the path it really made sense and made it very enjoyable.

I would like to see that the way that Josh reacted in all of this situation was pretty normal for how a normal child would see in the face of supernatural things. He first started off in such joy of superheroes and all their great work but then in the face of it all he couldn’t believe it and he was like in shock and denial of it all happening. The author really went into a good perspective of a child who had his mind in fantasy and then seeing it in reality.

Then comes in his twin sister Sophia even though she really wasn’t that into the entire situation she went into it no matter what. She was the most calm person out of the whole situation and kind of said what happens happens. I sort of didn’t like the way that she was very calm in some of the situations but I also could see that it was the main focus for Josh so that he wouldn’t go on a rampage and start freaking out and going crazy. She was the sort of rock that held Josh.

Then comes in the perspective of Nicholas Flamel and his wife. The author really did well to try and convey historical facts into his fictional story. I really like the way that Nicholas Flamel was very cautious in all the things that he was telling the twins but he was also very mindful in all the situations that were happening.

But all in all it was a truly great story I really did enjoy the way that the author conveys the entire story for teens. For being a fan of Harry Potter I can truly see how this book series can really get addicting to many teens out there. I cannot wait to read more of the series and see where the story of Nicholas Flamel would go and how the twins will turn out to be!
